These lovely cowskins actually come from Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina. The hide is split to give a hard-wearing raw suede on the underside. Each one is absolutely unique and I deliberately chose some common and some obscure and unusual colours from the tanneries to give the widest choice possible. These hides will add a touch of class to a room and often become a talking point. They are hard-wearing and don't mind being walked on and can also be cleaned. Once installed they will give you many years of pleasure. From animals which spent their lives roaming really huge ranches, these hides may have brand marks, scars from fights and thorns, and nicks from where the tannery cleaned the skin. All these things are normal and are not faults.

Of course, as I personally chose every cow hide I sell, I would not have chosen hides with gaping holes in them or unsightly marks or any other characteristics which one would consider a flaw! I have travelled in more than a dozen countries visiting tanners of all sorts of different hides: Cowhides, Sheepskins, Reindeer skins, Elk hides... Very large brindle coloured hide. (Will need a space somewhat longer than the 230cm I have measured due to the shape of the hide).

Strong and clear brand mark. I display the sizes of my hides in length x width in cm.

It is a simple, verifiable method you can do at home with a tape measure. I also show the measurements I've got for each hide in a photo.

I find the method used by some sellers of square feet totally disingenuous. The true sq ft method requires AI and a good scaled photo or else a grid with 1 squares placed against the skin with the number of squares the skin actually covers counted to establish the area of the hide.

A simple multiplication of the length x width gives an incorrect reading as it does not allow for the narrower parts of the hide which would not cover a perfect rectangle. You will receive exactly the cow hide you see in the picture. I take a photo of everything I sell individually. You will not just receive'something like' what you see in the picture, you will receive exactly what you see in the picture. To verify this, every hide has a number hand written on the back by the tannery which has been photographed too.

That way you can see that what you saw in the listing is what you received. Cleaning and installation instructions come with each hide.
